Teenager Seriously Injured after SUV Plows Into National City Bus Stop

A 15-year-old boy suffered multiple bone fractures and other serious injuries Thursday morning after a SUV plowed into a bus stop, 10 News reported. The accident occurred at the bus stop at Plaza Boulevard and Palm Avenue, just after 7:30 a.m. on August 19th. The driver of the SUV, Carlos Manuel Aguilar Martinez, was arrested on suspicion of DUI following the crash, currently has an immigration hold.

Woman Crossing Street Struck and Killed in Escondido

A 55-year-old woman struck by a car crossing an Escondido street died several hours later at a local hospital, the North County Times reported. The woman, who was not immediately identified , was walking across Broadway near East Park Avenue when a northbound Honda Civic struck her. There was no crosswalk at the intersection where the woman was attempting to cross the street. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The woman was taken to the hospital where she later died. The Escondido Police Department is investigating the cause of the July 31st Escondido pedestrian accident.

MAY 13, 2010 - A 23-year-old San Diego woman died Wednesday evening in a crash in El Centro, the Imperial County Coroner’s office reported. Deputy Coroner Jesus Lara identified the victim as Cristyna Divina, 23, of El Cajon. According to reports by KXO Radio, Divina was travelling west on Aten Road when she approached the intersection of Aten Road and Forrester Road at about 5:05 p.m. Her 2008 Jeep Laredo collided with a 1994 Freightliner truck that was hauling two trailers. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

95-Year-Old Coronado Man Killed in Crash on the Silver Strand

APRIL 23, 2010 - The San Diego Medical Examiner has identified a man who died in a multi-vehicle auto accident on the Silver Strand on Wednesday afternoon. Stevens Benjamin Friedman was a front seat passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a crash that occurred around 2 p.m. April 21st, near Cays Boulevard. Information about the cause of the crash was not available, but authorities reported that three other people were injured in the collision and taken to local hospitals.

APRIL 7, 2010 - A child was flown by medical helicopter to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego following a two vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 5 Tuesday morning, authorities reported. The accident occurred on southbound I-5, north of Highway 78, at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 7. The child’s mother, who was driving one of the vehicles, declined medical treatment. The occupant of the second vehicle was taken by ambulance to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside with minor injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

MARCH 15, 2010 - The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert following a hit-and-run rollover crash on Interstate 5 in Del Mar Tuesday morning. According to CHP reports, an SUV was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle and rolled four to five times. The accident occurred on southbound I-5, just south of Del Mar Heights Road on March 15th. The cause of the San Diego County SUV rollover accident remains under investigation. A description of the vehicle that caused the accident and left the scene was not immediately available. Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the SUV rollover crash.

Chula Vista Man Killed in Interstate 8 Crash Near Alpine

FEBRUARY 12, 2010 — A man on his way to work at Viejas Casino was killed in a crash on Interstate 8 Friday morning, authorities reported. The crash occurred on eastbound I-8 west of Willows Road around 6 a.m. The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer at an estimated 85 mph when he struck the rear of a 2000 Ford F650 truck with its hazard lights on. After the initial collision with the Ford, the Mitsubishi went down an embankment on the right side of the road and struck a large rock. The man driving the Mitsubishi died at the scene. The driver of the Ford, a 35-year-old El Cajon man, was not hurt in the crash. The CHP is investigating the cause of the fatal Interstate 8 accident.

Cyclist Killed Tuesday Evening in Collision with Trolley Car Near Mount Hope

NOVEMBER 25, 2009 - A cyclist died Tuesday night after colliding with a San Diego Trolley in the Mount Hope area, police reported. The accident occurred on Imperial Avenue near Edgefield Way at about 5:12 p.m. According to the San Diego Medical Examiner’s office, the operator of the eastbound Metropolitatin Transit System (MTS) Trolley saw the victim riding his bicycle along a side street in Mount Hope near the Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary approaching the trolley crossing. The cyclist sped up, possibly in an attempt to cross the street before the trolley passed. The trolley then struck the cyclist, who died at the scene. The San Diego police are investigating the cause of the crash.

NOVEMBER 9, 2009 – Authorities have reported a 63-year-old San Diego man was killed Monday morning in University City when his bicycle collided with a police vehicle. The crash occurred at the intersection of Genesee Avenue and Governor Drive in University City at approximately 7:19 a.m. The cyclist was travelling south on Genessee when he was struck at the intersection. The driver of the patrol car was reportedly responding to a traffic accident when the collision occurred. The victim, who has not been identified, died at the scene of the crash. The cause of the fatal San Diego bicycle accident is still under investigation.
