San Diego Man Died Friday after Falling down Cliff near Marin Headlands Lighthouse

OCTOBER 20, 2008 — The Marin County coroner’s office has identified the victim of a cliff fall from near the Point Bonita Lighthouse in Marin Headlands as Adrian Macias, 27, of San Diego.  The incident occurred at about 11 p.m. on Friday. Macias was walking in Marin Headlands with his friends when he fell 200 feet to his death.  The United States Coast Guard responded to a 911 call and recovered the body in rocks below the cliffs at around 11:40 p.m.  An autopsy revealed that the victim died of a massive blunt force injury, according to a spokeswoman for the coroner’s office.

Man Drives off Carmel Mountain Road into Condo

OCTOBER 20, 2008 — The Red Cross is working to relocate residents of a condo damaged when a car crashed into it Saturday afternoon in San Diego.  Police reported that a car was travelling on Carmel Mountain Road when it went off the road, striking a light post and a tree before slamming into a condo 50 feet below at 11011 Via Asti in San Diego.  The accident happened around noon. Witnesses reported that they thought the car was speeding between 70 and 80 miles per hour, a violation of the 40 mph speed limit on Carmel Mountain Road.  Both the male driver and his female passenger were injured slightly in the San Diego auto accident. Police took the driver to the downtown police station for alcohol testing.  Nobody was hurt inside the damaged condominium.  

Teenager Killed in Chula Vista Pedestrian Accident Identified

OCTOBER 20, 2008 — Families and friends are mourning the loss of a teenager tragically killed in an early morning pedestrian accident Sunday in Chula Vista. The San Diego county medical examiner has identified the Chula Vista teenager as Eric Hudika, 17.  Hudika was a student at Otay Ranch High in Chula Vista. The fatal pedestrian accident that took Hudika’s life happened at around 4:10 a.m., when Hudika was struck by a car while crossing the eastbound lanes of Olympic Parkway in Chula Vista. Responding emergency crews pronounced Hudika dead at the scene.  The driver of the vehicle that struck Hudika was Rogelio Villalobos, 23, of Chula Vista. Vilalobos was not arrested, but police are investigating the cause of this Olympic Parkway pedestrian accident, according to a Chula Vista police spokesman.
