One dead and one injured in Escondido collision
One man is dead and another injured after an accident in Escondido on October 11th. Two motorists were involved in an argument at the Jack in the Box drive-thru on El Norte Parkway, and both drivers were asked to leave the premises. As the vehicles were entering westbound Route 78 from southbound Interstate 15, the pickup truck rear-ended the car. The driver of the truck then lost control of his vehicle and rolled down an embankment. His passenger, a 24-year-old man, was thrown from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was transported to the hospital with a punctured lung and a broken back. The other driver fled after the collision. It is unknown whether the driver of the pickup struck the car intentionally.
