San Diego Man Dies Sunday in Tecate Crash

Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal Tecate motorcycle accident as Vanty Khao, 27, of San Diego. The motorcycle accident occurred at 1:53 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Khao had been riding his 2003 Honda motorcycle westbound on Route 94, west of Route 188 when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a guard rail.  Khao was travelling with a group of motorcycle riders and was  struck by another motorcycle after he was ejected onto the road. Emergency medical personnel transported Khao to Barrett Junction Cafe to meet a helicopter, but the victim was pronounced dead at 2:48 p.m.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the number of motorcycle accident fatalities has steadily increased the last nine years.  In 2006, 4,837 people died in motorcycle accidents in the United States. The number of fatalities 7 % increased in 2007 - 5,154 motorcycle accident fatalities were reported. 

Driver Dies in Fiery I-8 Crash Sunday Night

OCTOBER 13, 2008 — Border Patrol officers reported a single vehicle auto accident on westbound I-8, west of Jacumba in San Diego County. The crash occurred at about 10:16 p.m., when the driver of a Nissan sedan lost control of his car and went off the north side of the freeway, eventually landing about 70 feet down an embankment.  

Border Patrol officers told the California Highway Patrol that they pulled the driver out of the wrecked vehicle before it caught fire.  The driver, however, did not survive and died near the crash site. The driver of this I-8 fatality accident has not been identified.
