Carlsbad Skateboarder Injured After Being Run Over By Pickup Truck

OCTOBER 11, 2008 — A 16-year-old skateboarder was run over by a pickup truck on Garfield Street in Carlsbad Friday evening, police have reported.  The skateboarder was being towed by a Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 17-year-old driver, until the skateboard got caught on a back tire, forcing the skateboarder onto the pavement.  The truck ran over his chest and chin, causing moderate injuries. The skateboarder was admitted to a local hospital.   CA law requires people under the age of 18 to wear a helmet, but the teenager was not wearing one.   

The cause of this Carlsbad pedestrian accident is undergoing investigation. Authorities have yet to determine whether or not to seek criminal charges against the truck driver.

Man Leaving Tri-City Hospital Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Car

OCTOBER 11, 2008 — A patient discharged from Tri-City Medical Center Friday night was struck by a car about 15 minutes after he left the hospital, according to local authorities. The man was walking on West Vista Way at about 9:45 p.m. on October 10, when he was hit by a car driven by a female driver. The pedestrian broke his leg and suffered a head injury, and paramedics returned the injured man to the hospital for medical care. The driver of the car was not injured.

The cause of this Oceanside pedestrian accident is undergoing investigation. Authorities did not know why the man had initially sought treatment at the hospital. Tri-City Medical Center is located at 4002 Vista Way in Oceanside, CA.

Four People Injured in Carlsbad Auto Accident Friday Night

OCTOBER 11, 2008 — Four people were injured in an automobile accident at Carlsbad Village Drive and El Camino Real in Carlsbad at about 10 p.m. Friday night, police have reported.  A car and a semi tractor-trailer rig collided with each other.  Firefighters were forced to use rescue equipment to remove occupants of the car.  Three of the accident victims were reported to have serious injuries, and were flown to Palomar Medical Center. A fourth victim was taken to another hospital.  It is unknown whether the driver of the truck was injured, or who was at fault.
