Two people are dead from separate accidents in San Jacinto on October 6th. 69-year-old Betty Rae Drewett was killed when she collided with another vehicle while traveling on the Ramona Expressway. The other driver had to be removed from the wreckage by firefighters. The unidentified victim was then flown to the hospital with serious injuries. Minutes later, a three-vehicle collision occurred on Gilman Springs Road east of Bridge Street. One person died at the scene, and three were injured. They were transported to the hospital with critical and moderate injuries.
OCTOBER 7, 2008 — A fiery crash involving an Acura Integra and a semi truck last night left five people injured, including the of the driver of the Acura, a 22-year-old women from Orange, and four male passengers from San Diego and Chula Vista, between the ages of 19 and 24. The accident occurred on Southbound I-15 near Barstow at about 10:30 p.m. The semi truck dragged the Acura approximately 1,000 feet before stopping just south of the L Street exit, where both the trailer and the car caught fire.
The driver of the semi truck, Terry Smith, was not injured. The driver and four passengers of the Acura were able to exit the car quickly after the accident, and all were airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, CA, for treatment of potentially life threatening burn injuries.
The cause of the California truck accident is undergoing investigation.
