Road Rage on I-8 Leads to Shooting

OCTOBER 2, 2008 — A 21 year old man was shot Tuesday afternoon in a road rage incident on I-8 that involved a Toyota Tacoma and a Chrysler 300 sedan. Both vehicles were travelling west on Interstate 8 East of I-5 in San Diego when one of the vehicles cut off another. The victim was a passenger in the front seat of the Toyota Tacoma. The 19 year old driver of the pickup was not injured. The passenger had bullet fragments lodged behind his eye, requiring surgery.  The CHP is investigating the cause of the shooting.

According to data released by the AAA, on average, at least 1,500 men, women, and children are either killed or injured each year in the United States as a result of “road rage,” or aggressive driving.  Most road rage incidents involve younger males.
