FDA Calls for Tougher Warnings on Over the Counter Pain Medicine
Federal health officials recently proposed stricter warning labels for acetaminophen, aspirin and ibuprofen, again cautioning millions of Americans who take the nonprescription pain relievers regularly of potentially serious side effects. Recently, there has been an increase of incidence of liver damage due to over medication and even death. Some 200 million people in America take pain killers every day. Each year, over 250,000 people are hospitalized with medical issues related to the use of pain killers. The more serious incidences include liver, kidney damage, and death. This includes Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, Aleve and other pain medications.
