NOVEMBER 23, 2008 – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that Jonathan Beltran Andrade, 21, of Vista, was killed early Saturday morning in an accident in Vista. He was driving a Ford Mustang and making a left turn from Hill Drive onto West Vista Way, at about 5:15 a.m., when his car was broadsided by a Cadillac Escalade. County Sheriff’s officials said Jonathan Andrade was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Escalade, a 22-year-old-man, suffered minor injuries. The accident is currently being investigated.
NOVEMBER 21, 2008 – San Diego police reported a 68-year-old man was killed Thursday evening in a single vehicle crash on Genesee Aveneue in Clairemont. The accident happened at about 11 p.m. The driver of the 1997 Saab, who has not been identified, lost control of his car for unknown reasons and crashed into a light pole near Boyd Avenue. There were no other passengers in the car. The driver was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries. The Genesee Avenue crash is currently being investigated.
NOVEMBER 17, 2008 — The San Diego County Medical Examiner reported that Niamh Pownall, 19, of San Carlos, died early Sunday morning in a speeding accident on west state Route 94. Niamh was one of four riding in the car at the time of the rollover crash. The accident happened at about 3 a.m., when the driver of the Honda Accord Niamh was riding in lost control of the vehicle and the car went off the freeway. The Honda rolled several times and landed upside down in the intersection of Barcelona Street and Buena Vista Drive in Spring Valley. A medical ambulance was called, but Pownall was pronounced dead before she could be transported to a hospital. The condition of the driver and other passengers is unknown. The SR-94 fatality accident is still being investigated.
NOVEMBER 16, 2008 — The California Highway Patrol reported Joda Molina, 30, from Pauma Valley, died in an truck rollover accident shortly before 6 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened when Molina struck a tree on the 21000 block of Highway 76, near Church Road. Molina was an American Indian who lived on the La Jolla Indian Reservation. The CHP is investigating the cause of the Route 76 fatality crash.

NOVEMBER 12, 2008 — John Joseph Taskey Jr., 47, of La Mesa, on parole for his fifth drunken-driving conviction, was given a sentence of 15 years to life in prison today at a sentencing hearing in San Diego Superior Court. Taskey pleaded guilty last month to second degree murder charges for a freeway fatality accident on September 13, 2007. In the crash, Taskey hit a Ford Focus near West Mission Bay Drive on westbound Interstate 8, killing Rosa Degerman, 75. Degerman died as a result of her injuries the day after the accident. Taskey’s five previous DUI convictions dated back to 1997.
NOVEMBER 11, 2008 – An early morning collision just before 2:15 a.m. on Otay Mesa Road has left one man dead and another man injured, according to the San Diego police. The driver who was killed, whose identity has not been released, was driving east on Otay Mesa Road when his car crossed over the center divider and onto the westbound lanes, where it struck another car. Police reported he was killed on impact, and was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive. Otay Mesa remained closed between Cactus Road and Continental Road while San Diego police investigated the Otay Mesa fatality crash.

NOVEMBER 9, 2008 — San Diego police reported two sisters, ages 62 and 87, were injured in a head-on collision on Clairemont Drive near Ute Drive this morning. The accident happened at about 11:10 a.m. Police reported that the women, in a Pontiac, were struck by a pickup truck driven by an 18-year-old female pizza delivery driver, who blacked out while driving. The 62-year-old woman’s injuries were described as life-threatening. The pizza delivery driver suffered minor injuries in the Clairemont auto accident.
NOVEMBER 8, 2008 — The County Medical Examiner’s office has reported that Jose Santiago, 18, of Oceanside, died Friday, shortly after arriving at Palomar Medical Center in an air ambulance. Santiago died from injuries sustained in an Oceanside car crash at about 8:25 p.m Friday. He was a backseat passenger in a Volkswagen sedan that crashed into a pole at Old Grove Road and Mesa Drive in Oceanside. Other passengers were also reported injured, and transported to hospitals in air ambulances.
NOVEMBER 7, 2008 –The California Highway Patrol reported a 38-year-old El Cajon man suffered life-threatening injuries in a rollover crash on I-8 this morning. The man was speeding eastbound on I-8 near Los Coches Road and tried to pass slow traffic on the right shoulder when he lost control of his 2000 Honda Civic. His car slid across eastbound lanes, hit the center divider, then skidded back across the freeway and rolled several times off the side into a dirt embankment. According to the CHP, the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the Honda in the I-8 rollover crash. The I-8 vehicle rollover accident occurred at about 8 a.m. Friday morning. Both eastbound lanes of I-8 were blocked while a ambulance helicopter landed on the freeway to transport the man to a hospital. CHP reported that the driver may have been under the influence of drugs.

NOVEMBER 7, 2008 — Jekaterina Ferguson, 25, of Pacific Beach, died Thursday in a Sorrento Valley auto accident, when a tow-truck struck her Hyundai sedan head on. The intersection accident occurred at Camino Santa Fe and Trade Street at about 9:35 a.m. yesterday. Police reported the driver of the tow-truck, whose name has not been released, ran a red light going northbound on Camino Santa Fe. The county medical examiner’s office reported Ferguson died of her injuries at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla at about 1:50 p.m. The tow-truck driver was hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Camino Santa Fe was closed between Carroll Road and Summers Ridge Road as police investigated the Camino Santa Fe car crash.
