AUGUST 4, 2009 – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a solo-vehicle accident that seriously injured a Marine, authorities said. The victim, described as being a man in his 30s, lost control while driving a Jeep Liberty sports-utility vehicle on Highway 78 about 11:30 a.m., according to the CHP. The SUV left the highway and crashed into a vacant Tweeter electronics store at 1950 Hacienda Drive. The unidentified driver suffered serious head injuries and was transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, authorities said.
