JULY 31, 2009 – A man was airlifted to the hospital after he was struck and injured while attempting to cross Interstate 5, authorities said. The accident happened about 9:50 p.m. in the southbound lanes just north of Mission Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. The victim was struck in one of the right-hand lanes, but managed to get to his feet and run to the center divider area, authorities said. A witness reported that the man had a badly broken leg. The CHP is investigating the I-5 pedestrian accident.
