Father and Daughter Injured Sunday When Personal Watercrafts Collide in Mission Bay

JULY 27, 2009 – A 33-year-old Escondido man and his 11-year-old daughter were seriously injured when their personal watercraft collided with another, authorities said. The accident occurred about 10:45 a.m. in the Fiesta Bay area near Ski Beach, according to San Diego police. The family had been picnicking in Mission Bay Park when the collision occurred, authorities said. The man suffered a back injury and was bleeding, while the girl complained of leg and arm pain, officials said. They were both hospitalized. The other rider was uninjured. The watercraft accident was among eight boat rescues, 202 medical calls and 196 water rescues at San Diego City beaches on Sunday, when approximately 290,000 people flocked to the shore, authorities said. The San Diego Police Department is investigating the watercraft accident.
