Motorcyclist Critically Injured Saturday in Oceanside Collision

JULY 27, 2009 – A speeding motorcyclist who was riding without a helmet suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash, authorities said. The unidentified motorcyclist allegedly ran a red light near the intersection of Mesa Drive and Rancho del Oro Drive and collided head-on into a sports-utility vehicle about 1:30 a.m., according to Oceanside police. The victim was airlifted from El Camino High School to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where further information was unavailable, officials said. A woman in the SUV suffered minor injuries, officials said. The Oceanside Police Department in investigating the motorcycle crash.
