Teen Skateboarder Struck by Car Wednesday in Oceanside

JULY 2, 2009 – A teenager was airlifted to a hospital after he was struck by a car while riding a skateboard on Pacific Coast Highway, authorities said. The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m., about an hour after another skateboarder was struck by a car in a nearby residential neighborhood. The second incident happened at the intersection of PCH and Cassidy Street, according to the Oceanside Fire Department. The skateboarder may have suffered a serious arm injury in the collision, officials said. No information was available on the type of vehicle involved or the circumstances of the accident. Skateboarding in Oceanside has grown more popular in recent years as new skateboard parks have been planned and developed.
