Well-Known Fashion Designer Crashed into La Jolla Store on Tuesday, Injuring Customer

JULY 1, 2009 – An internationally known fashion designed crashed her car into a hardware store, injuring a 42-year-old customer, authorities said. The accident occurred about 10:45 a.m. at Meanley & Son Ace Hardware on Girard Avenue near Silverado Street. The car was driven by Zandra Rhodes, who lives part of the year in Del Mar and the other part in London. Her clients have included Princes Diana and the San Diego Opera. The injured woman was inside the store when she was struck by a table that had been hit by the car, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. The victim was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla with non-life threatening injuries, authorities said. The San Diego Police Department is investigating the accident.
