JUNE 7, 2009 – A person suffered life-threatening injuries in a head-on collision on Highway 76, authorities said. The crash was reported at 3:15 p.m. and occurred near Gird Road just east of Interstate 15, according to a spokesman for the Fallbrook-based North County Fire Protection District. Rescuers freed at least two injured occupants from vehicles, one of which was overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol. One person was transported via ambulance to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, while two others were brought to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
