Two ATVs Collide Sunday in Valley Center, Seriously Injuring Rider

JUNE 7, 2009 – A 16-year-old operator of an all-terrain vehicle suffered serious injuries after colliding with another ATV, authorities said. The collision occurred about 2:20 p.m. on private property on the Rincon Indian Reservation, according to the California Highway Patrol. Paramedics responded to an off-road area behind the Rincon fire station on Valley Center Road, where they found a rider with head trauma and another with less serious injuries. Neither rider was wearing a helmet, authorities said. The more seriously injured rider was airlifted to Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. The other was transported to Palomar Medical Center, according to the CHP.
