JUNE 1, 2009 – A houseguest suffered severe trauma to her head and back after falling 80 to 100 feet down a cliff, authorities said. The unidentified woman in her 20s had exited a hot tub in the backyard of a home on Neptune Avenue and was walking toward a hammock when she wandered too close to the cliff and fell shortly after 11 p.m., said a captain for Encinitas Marine Safety. She landed on the beach about a half mile north of Moonlight Beach. Authorities said she had been drinking. The woman had no mobility and could not feel her lower extremities when rescuers arrived. She was airlifted to La Jolla Hospital where she was listed in critical condition, authorities said.
