Three Firms Settle in Rhode Island Nightclub Fire

Three more companies agreed to tentative settlements in lawsuits stemming from the 2003 Station nightclub fire in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

The fire, which killed 100 people, was started when a pyrotechnics display ignited flammable foam which lined the club’s walls. More than 200 were injured.

Since then, survivors and family members of those killed have filed suits against more than a dozen companies. Clear Channel Broadcasting, Home Depot and a local tv station have agreed to settlements worth more than $70 million.
