Two Cyclists Killed During Training

Two cyclists were killed and one seriously injured when they were struck by a Santa Clara Sheriff’s Deputy’s vehicle March 9, 2008.

The cyclists were almost near the finish line of their training run when they were hit by 27 year old Deputy James Council.

Matt Peterson and Kristy Gough were killed and Christopher Knapp was in stable condition at Stanford University Medical Center.

The sheriff deputy who reportedly fell asleep while driving was placed on administrative leave.
