FEBRUARY 26, 2009 – One woman was killed and her husband was injured after an auto accident in southeast San Diego County yesterday. The unidentified 63-year-old woman was driving eastbound on Interstate 8 when her Honda Civic was struck by a Pontiac near Buckman Springs Road. The Civic rolled down an embankment off the south side of the Freeway. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. Her husband was a passenger in the car and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. It has not been determined as to why the driver of the Pontiac, 50-year-old Linda Cahill, swerved out of her lane and struck the Civic next to her. Witnesses stated that she had been driving recklessly prior the collision. Ms. Cahill was not injured.
