FEBRUARY 23, 2009 – A bicyclist is dead after being struck by a car in Escondido yesterday. The unidentified man, a 29-year-old transient, was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of South Centre City Parkway and Escondido Boulevard. The victim was unconscious when paramedics arrived and had suffered major head and torso injuries. He was declared dead at the scene. It is believed that the man intentionally rode his bicycle into oncoming traffic. He was not wearing a helmet.
