Carlsbad Man Dies Day After Highway 76 Motorcycle Crash
DECEMBER 1, 2008 – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office reported that Ilija Petrovich, 51, of Carlsbad, died at 4 p.m. Sunday after suffering serious head injuries in a motorcycle crash in Pauma Valley Saturday afternoon. Petrovich had been riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Highway 76 with his wife, when the motorcycle struck a stopped pickup truck in the road. Both Petrovich and his wife were thrown from the motorcycle. Petrovich hit several mailboxes before hitting the ground. He was flown to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he died of his injuries Sunday afternoon. His wife suffered serious shoulder and back injuries in the accident.
