AUGUST 13, 2009 – A man suffered major head injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while walking on a Clairemont street, authorities said. The unidentified man, described as in his 40s, was hit about 9:30 p.m. while walking on Mount Alifan Drive near Balboa Avenue, according to San Diego police. The man was thrown an estimated 30 feet and suffered major head trauma. He was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital in Kearny Mesa in critical condition, police said. The driver remained at the scene and it’s unclear if he will face charges. The San Diego Police Department is investigating the pedestrian accident.
