AUGUST 10, 2009 – A San Diego County Sheriff’s deputy suffered a head injury when his four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle collided with a colleague’s ATV while on beach patrol, authorities said. The collision occurred about 11:35 a.m. while the deputies were traveling north on Seacoast Drive near Elder Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. One deputy apparently stopped his ATV and the other ran into the back of it, authorities said. The impact knocked the trailing deputy off his vehicle and he suffered injuries to his head and right arm, officials said. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the ATV collision.
